2012 Founders’ Award
The Founders’ Award honors individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field, which is appreciated and recognized by dermatopathologists throughout the medical world. The contribution must be innovative, fundamental, and monumental in scope with regard to its application and value, as deemed by the Peer Review Committee and Board of Directors. The award may be given for contributions to the understanding of disease mechanisms, for new diagnostic methodologies, for diagnostic insights, for teaching approaches, etc., but in all instances the achievement should be deemed to have advanced the field of dermatopathology. The award is meant to recognize contributions to the field regardless of association with The American Society of Dermatopathology. The honoree may or may not be a practicing dermatopathologist or, even a physician.
2012 Walter R. Nickel Award for Excellence in Teaching of Dermatopathology
The American Society of Dermatopathology will present the Walter R. Nickel Award for Excellence in Teaching of Dermatopathology to an individual who has made great contributions to the teaching of dermatopathology. Individuals who have been important teachers of dermatopathology should be considered without regard to academic affiliation, status or number of publications in the field. The Nickel Award recipient will be selected by the Peer Review Committee and ratified by the Board of Directors.
Instructions for Nominations
Nomination packets should be sent by e-mail to msubstalae@asdp.org and received by ASDP no later than April 1, 2012. Be sure to reference the specific award in the email subject line.
Nomination packets should include:
- Minimum of three (3) Letters of Nomination
- Nominee's CV
- Nominee's Abbreviated Biography
Letters of nominations should document reasons why the individual should be considered for the award and state the relationship between the nominator and nominee. A minimum of three (3) nomination letters is required for the nominee to be considered for an award. The nominee's CV and an abbreviated biography must also be included in the nomination packet. Abbreviated biographies will be published in print materials and on the Society's web site. All complete nomination packets will be forwarded to the Peer Review Committee for consideration. Nomination packets that are not complete and do not include the required documentation will not be considered.
