Membership Categories
FELLOW
Fellow applicants must:
- be fully licensed to practice medicine in a state, territory, or province of competent jurisdiction;
- be certified in Pathology or Dermatology by the American Board of Medical Specialties ("ABMS");
- be certified by the ABMS in Dermatopathology;
- have a demonstrated interest in the practice and/or teaching of dermatopathology; and
- be of high moral, ethical and professional standing, as attested to by three (3) Fellow members of the Society.
Membership dues in the amount of $390, payable to The American Society of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include a subscription to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.

FIRST YEAR IN PRACTICE FELLOW
First Year in Practice Fellow applicants must:
- be in their first year of practice;
- be fully licensed to practice medicine in a state, territory, or province of competent jurisdiction;
- be certified in Pathology or Dermatology by the American Board of Medical Specialties ("ABMS");
- be certified by the ABMS in Dermatopathology;
- have a demonstrated interest in the practice and/or teaching of dermatopathology; and
- be of high moral, ethical and professional standing, as attested to by three (3) Fellow members of the Society.
The First Year in Practice category is limited to one-year. Membership dues in the amount of $390 are due in subsequent years.
Membership dues in the amount of $195, payable to The American Society of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include a subscription to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.

ASSOCIATE
Associate applicants must:
- reside in the United States or Canada;
- be fully licensed to practice medicine in a state, territory, or province of competent jurisdiction;
- be either (a) certified in Pathology or Dermatology by the ABMS; or (b) have a M.D., D.O. or other comparable doctorate of medical physician status with a demonstrated special expertise in pathology of the skin or research therein; and
- be of high moral, ethical and professional standing, as attested to by three (3) Fellow members of the Society.

NON-RESIDENT ASSOCIATE
Non-Resident Associate applicants must:
- reside outside of the United States or Canada;
- be fully licensed to practice medicine in their country of residence;
- be a practicing dermatopathologist;
- hold a specialty certificate in Pathology or Dermatology; have a M.D., D.O. or other comparable doctorate of medical physician status; and
- be of high moral, ethical and professional standing, as attested to by one (1) Fellow member of the Society and two (2) colleagues familiar with the applicant's work.
Membership dues in the amount of $100, payable to The American Society of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include online access to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. A subscription to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology is made directly to the publisher and can be obtained at a reduced rate.

FELLOW-IN-TRAINING
Fellow-in-Training applicants must:
- reside in the United States or Canada;
- be fully licensed to practice medicine in a state, territory, or province of competent jurisdiction;
- be either (a) certified in Pathology or Dermatology by the ABMS and be a fellow in an ACGME approved dermatopathology training program;
- submit written documentation from the current program director or registrar's office verifying enrollment in an ACGME approved dermatopathology training program; and
- be of high moral, ethical and professional standing, as attested to by three (3) Fellow members of the Society.
Fellow-in-Training membership automatically expires at the end of the fiscal year that coincides with the member's expected completion date of the dermatopathology fellowship program, at which time the Fellow-in-Training member shall be eligible to apply for Associate member status.
Membership dues in the amount of $80, payable to The American Society
of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include
online access to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.
Membership dues in the amount of $190, payable to The American Society
of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include a
subscription to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.

RESIDENT
Resident applicants must:
- be currently enrolled in a dermatology or pathology residency program accredited by the ACGME (or its equivalent if such prospective member resides outside of the United States);
- submit written documentation from the current program director or registrar's office verifying such residency;
- be fully licensed to practice medicine in a state, territory, or province of competent jurisdiction; and
- acknowledge that conferral of Resident membership does not imply that the Resident member will be qualified or admitted as an Associate member.
Resident membership automatically expires at the end of the fiscal year that coincides with the Resident member's expected completion date of residency, at which time the Resident member shall be eligible to apply for Fellow-in-Training member status.
Membership dues in the amount of $25, payable to The American Society of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include online access to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.

MEDICAL STUDENT
Student applicants must:
- be currently enrolled in an accredited medical school program;
- submit written documentation from the current program director or registrar's office verifying enrollment; and
- acknowledge that conferral of Student membership does not imply that the Student member will be qualified or admitted as a Resident member.
Student membership automatically expires at the end of the fiscal year that coincides with Student member's anticipated graduation date from medical school, at which time the Student member will be eligible to apply for Resident member status.
Membership dues in the amount of $15, payable to The American Society of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include online access to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.

AFFILIATE
Affiliate applicants must:
- have either earned a PhD, DVM or DDS or be a researcher, scientist or non-physician with a demonstrated special expertise in pathology of the skin or research therein; and
- be of high moral, ethical and professional standing, as attested to by three (3) Fellow members of the Society.
Membership dues in the amount of $525, payable to The American Society of Dermatopathology, are due upon application submittal and include a subscription to the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.

Deadline for submission of applications
Applications and supporting materials are due by March 31, June 30, September 30 or December 31 of each year. Applications meeting the membership criteria stated in the bylaws and reviewed by the Membership Committee will be recommended for ratification by the ASDP Board of Directors. Application reviews are performed quarterly; in January, April, July and October.
