Dr. Melissa Piliang serves as Chairman of Dermatology at Cleveland Clinic. She initially joined the staff after completing both a residency in dermatology and a fellowship in dermatopathology at Cleveland Clinic. She is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and Purdue University. Her areas of interest include dermatopathology and general medical dermatology, with a special interest in alopecias and androgen disorders. She has authored numerous scientific papers and textbook chapters. At Cleveland Clinic, she co-chairs the Section of Dermatopathology and has served as Vice Chair of Education in the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Institute, associate program director of the dermatology residency and associate program director of the dermatopathology fellowship. Dr. Piliang is active in the American Academy of Dermatology currently serving as Vice Chair of the Government and Health Policy Council and the American Society of Dermatopathology where she serves as Secretary-Treasurer, Delegate to the AMA House of Delegates, chair of the Health Policy Work Value Committee, and was the inaugural co-chair of the Young Physicians Committee. Dr. Piliang has is a past member of the Board of the Women’s Dermatologic Society and past President of the Ohio Dermatologic Association having previously served as a Trustee, Treasurer and Secretary.
